
Pezhman Hassanpour is currently an NSERC Post Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering of the University of Waterloo. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto (2008), his Masters from Sharif University of Technology (2004), and B.Sc. from University of Tehran (2002) all in mechanical engineering. His research is focused on the application of nonlinear dynamics of micro- and nano- systems for the design of sensors. He is a member of the ASME Dynamics and Control of Structures and Systems Technical Committee. From 2006 to 2008, he served in the Board of Directors of Iranian Association at the University of Toronto.
Rozita Jalali
Rozita Jalali is a PHD student in Johns Hopkins University at the Department of Civil Engineering. She got her Bachelor degree from Iran University of Science and Technology and her master degree in Sharif University of Technology. She has four years of work experience in the field of Hydraulic designing and fluid mechanics problems in Iran. She is now a member of American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE). Her research interests are mainly Computational Fluid Dynamics and Coastal Engineering.

Yaser Kerachian is a graduate of the University of Toronto, where he received his Ph.D. in physics. He obtained his B.Sc. in physics from Sharif University of Technology in 1999. He currently works as a Technology Transfer Officer at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada where he deals with the commercialization of the school’s research. From 2001 to 2003, he served on the executive committee of the Iranian Association at the University of Toronto. Yaser is the co-founder and president of Knowledge Diffusion Network and a board member of the Toronto chapter of the Sharif University of Technology Association.

Majid Saeedi was a memeber of knowdiff team since 2004. He served as an executive board member from late 2005. Majid received his BSc in chemical engineering from Sharif University in 2003. He moved to Canada to pursue his studies and obtained an MSc in petroleum engineering from University of Calgary in 2006. He is now working for a Calgary based oil & gas corporation as a reservoir engineer.

Behzad Samadi received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran in 1996, his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran in 1999, and his PhD in mechanical engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 2008. He is currently with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran. He has worked for R&D Center of Irankhodro, Jovain Electrical Machines Company (JEMCO), and Pars Telephone Kar. His research interests include controller synthesis for non-smooth hybrid systems, model based fault detection and isolation, and application of advanced control methods to vehicle control systems.
Mohammadreza Shadnam is a senior science advisor at R&D incentive group, a technology, development, and research consulting practice within the KPMG LLP. He has been in contact with technical side of tens of companies in his current position. His research areas are micro/nano surface science/engineering and mechanical and mathematical dynamics and stability. He completed a Ph.D. in the Surface Engineering and Instrumentation Laboratory at the National Institute of Nanotechnology. He has also received a Ph.D. degree in Structural Engineering (Structural Dynamics) from Sharif University of Technology in 2002. He is a member of Canadian Association of Physicists, American Society of Civil Engineers and Engineering Mechanics Institute. He has taught in University of Alberta, Sharif University of Technology, Iran University of Science and Technology and Iranian National Organization for Development of Exceptional Talents (NODET). He has served on the General Faculties Council, Graduate Studies and Research Council, University Bursaries and Emergency Funding Appeals Committee and the Budget Advisory Committee at the University of Alberta until 2006. He has also chaired (elected) the graduate student committee to interview faculty position candidates for University of Alberta (2005), organized the engineering teachers workshops in Alberta and chaired (elected) and contributed to various NODET committees for making local and national exams, curriculum retreats and hirings, 1997-2001. He has also served as Literature rep. of the Iranian Student Association at University of Alberta for several years.
Hamid Shirazi is a staff engineer at a transportation consulting firm providing engineering and research services to various state and federal government agencies in the United States. He has received a master degree in civil engineering from University of Texas at El Paso. He is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
He has been an active member of several nonprofit organizations. After serving as a member for 2 years during his education, he was elected as editor-in-chief of Sharif Civil Magazine; a student scientific magazine with a circulation of 3000 copies among the nations students. During the 2 years of his term, the organization published several volumes and held many scientific workshops and seminars.
He is currently a member of Iranian Academic Association (IAA), DC Chapter. IAA is a nonprofit organization established in 1995 in New York by a group of Iranian professionals and scholars for advancement of Iranian culture and history among the young generations. Among all other activities, IAA awards student scholarships to Iranian ancestor students with remarkable achievements and holds monthly seminars for the community members.
Hamid has also been closely involved in cultural activities of Iranian American Cultural Society (IACS) of Maryland. He was responsible for movie nights aiming at promoting Iranian culture and heritage through screening movie products of inside and outside of the country. He was elected as a board member of the organization and serves as the community treasurer.

Mahdi Shabany received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2002, and his M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degree both in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, in 2004 and 2008, respectively. From 2007 to 2008, he was with Redline Communications Co., Toronto, Canada, where he developed and patented designs for WiMAX systems. He also served as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto in 2009. Currently he is an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. His main research interests include Digital Electronics, and VLSI architecture/algorithm design for broadband communication systems.
